Durable dishcloth made from mosquito net fabric
Shirayuki Limited, a long-time mosquito net manufacturer in Nara, has produced this dishcloth by taking advantage of the characteristics of mosquito net fabric. The dish towel is made by sewing together 8 thin layers of mosquito net fabric, which is a blend of cotton and rayon, making it strong, soft, and easy to clean. Every year, Shirayuki dish towels are offered to the "Ominugui (wiping of the body of the Great Buddha)" event held in the summer at Todaiji Temple in Nara to remove "dust" from the Daibutsu (Great Buddha).

Shirayuki Limited
Shirayuki Limited has been in the business of manufacturing mosquito net fabric for many years. This dish towel was originally made by the former owner's grandmother, who wanted to make effective use of the rags left over from cutting mosquito net fabric. The owner's mother named this dish towel "Shirayuki Fukin" because it is as white as snow.

*Before using the dish towel, please hand wash it several times in hot water.
The surface of the dish towel is coated with starch glue from Satsuma sweet potatoes in order to sew thin fabrics. Since starch glue does not dissolve easily in cold water, hot water of about 40°C is recommended.
