The brooch is made of machined aluminum. Since it is not attached with a needle but with a strong magnet, it can be attached to clothes, bags, etc. without making holes in them. There are three parts: large, medium and small. Each has its own magnet and you can use them all on top of each other or one on top of the other as you wish.
