Long Life Design that D&DEPARTMENT SEOUL envisions
D&DEPARTMENT SEOUL by MILLIMETER MILLIGRAM
Opened in Seoul's Itaewon district on November 9, 2013. The Seoul store is operated by a design firm, MILLIMETER MILLIGRAM, which markets its original stationery and store in South Korea.
It has D&DEPARTMENT's Long Life Design products that are popular in Japan and the rest of the world, as well as South Korea's Long Life products, rather than just the ones from Seoul. It has undergone renovation in May 2023, allowing the exploration and introduction of "Long-lasting" products while promoting activities through its 2 floors.

"KOREA VISION MARKET" showcases and sells South Korea's regional industries and traditional crafts in the form of exhibits.
"Topan salt and SALTRAIN as life's necessities"
South Korea's tideland is registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The SALTRAIN brand is known worldwide and not only within South Korea for the "Topan salt's" excellence in traditional processing methods originating from most of South Jeolla Province's Sinan. A talk event was held where the representative Mr. Kan Eun Chul was invited, while an original product co-developed with the Seoul store was sold and a tabloid paper was created to highlight the interview.
Bokdeokbang natural makgeolli
"Pok Deok Pan" makgeolli store in Seoul's Mangwon-dong. Mr. Kang SeongGu has been contacting makgeolli breweries throughout South Korea since 2015 to introduce only heart-capturing makgeolli brands. He has pioneered a new field called "natural makgeolli" that utilizes the old traditional manufacturing process. D&DEPARTMENT SEOUL showcased his products at its in-store gallery as well as the d SCHOOL with a sampling session. Mr. Kan told us about expressing traditional things in a modern way while also creating a culture that you can enjoy.
Dozamm modular table
Dozamm furniture utilizes wooden furniture-manufacturing techniques dating back to the Joseon Dynasty and can be created without the use of nails. They are handmade by female artisans. We visited the dozamm showroom in Mangwon-dong, Seoul with our staff from D&DEPARTMENT SEOUL and held a seminar about its branding with the representative Ms. Lee JeongHae. A workshop was held where you could experience the process of applying the finishing paint to the tabletop tray "DABAN," which is created using the same techniques, offering an opportunity for the producer and consumers to interact.
Eyeglass designer Mr. Kim JongPil's occupation
Mr. Kim Jong-pil continues to manufacture eyeglasses in Seoul for 24 years and is a first-generation South Korean eyeglass designer. His eyeglasses pursue functions based on ergonomics and focus on selecting the right materials and structural flexibility to allow the perfect fit and express natural individuality. The hand-crafted eyeglasses "Sujakson" (meaning handcraft or hand-operation) are sold, which use minimal machinery with most of the production performed by hand (such as cutting acetate with a handsaw), along with the metal temples "SNOW CLASS" that feature light and flexible materials and intuitively designed nose pads. We held a talk event and learned about South Korea's eyeglass industry and Kim Jong-pil's design philosophy based on "ensuring people enjoy the small happiness with eyeglasses."
Easy-to-understand bamboo crafts
Gokseong-gun of South Jeolla Province and Sunchang-gun of North Jeolla Province are both regions that are abundant with bamboo. We invited Mr. Han ChangGyun as a teacher and held a workshop for creating a bamboo flower basket. We learned about bamboo's characteristics and nature by using our hands for nearly 2 hours while experiencing its value and use. Although bamboo products are everywhere as everyday items, their demand has once dwindled to a great extent, due to other cheaper materials and an inflow of mass-produced products from overseas. However, they are being re-evaluated, as recent attitudes to protect the environment and seeking alternatives for plastic have been increasing.
d8 Noodles
Introduces the long-continuing food culture of South Korea's 8 regions (Seoul Special City, Incheon Metropolitan City, Gangwon Province, Chungcheong Province, Jeolla Province, Gyeongsang Province, Busan Metropolitan City, Jeju Island) through traditional methods. The 2020 summer theme was "myeon" (noodles). South Korea's noodle consumption per capita ranks no. 1 worldwide. Preparation and serving can vary, depending on the soup, seasoning (such as yangnyeom), and the production methods used for the noodles. Gangwon Province's "maemilmyeon", Incheon's "jeolmyeon", Chungcheong Province's "otan-guksu", Jeolla Province's "red bean kal-guksu", Busan's "gupo guksu" and "milmyeon", Jeju Island's "gogi-guksu", and the instant "Samyang ramen" that was the first of its kind to penetrate throughout South Korean as a result of resolving its food crisis in 1963. South Korea's noodle culture has now been regarded as regional cuisine, thanks to the widespread consumption of flour and the development of flour-milling industries, along with traveling to each region and the fusion of noodles with regional food.
