Maki-e Lacquer Art Earrings "SHIU RADEN" Chain
Made in
Japan
Timeless Craftsmanship, Contemporary Elegance.
Maki-e is an art technique that dates back to 710 AD and involves using gold powder on a lacquer surface. It is the traditional Japanese craft and is known as a uniquely Japanese lacquer art technique with no precedent overseas. The first examples of maki-e have been confirmed in the Shosoin treasures of the Nara period (710-794).
"SHIU RADEN" is a graceful depiction of a continuous thin drizzle of rain. Strips of glowing shells are arranged on the front, and white butterfly shells let in light from the sides. Patterns are drawn with lacquer on a silver-lipped pearl base, and gold and silver powders are applied to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern accessories.
*Each item is handmade and may vary from the colors and shapes shown in the photos.
