Techniques of artisans who make canvas material in Kurashiki

The fabric is woven on "shuttle looms", which are very rare today. The daily amount of fabric produced by each machine is about 50 - 70 meters (164 - 230 ft) for 8 hours of production. Taking the time to weave the canvas material gives it a defined texture.

Kurashiki canvas, used in this tool tote, is the world's finest quality that long tradition and skilled craftsmanship can provide. Foreign canvas material is technically classified as "cotton cloth" and not "canvas" material. Kurashiki canvas, on the other hand, on the other hand, is woven from multiple interwoven cotton threads into a durable yarn. The woven product is a thick fabric with a plain weave pattern that weighs at least 8 ounces per square meter (or 6.69 oz per square yard).

Matsunoya

Founded in 1945 in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. A wholesaler of miscellaneous household items, or Aramono, based in Tokyo that mainly sold bags as a wholesaler during its inception. Although "Aramono" (hardware) is a term that is rarely used nowadays, it refers to items such as Japanese-style brooms made from broom grass, galvanized iron dustpan, baskets, colanders, or any everyday household goods found in any Japanese home.

In 1995, Matsunoya started its original brand, "THREAD-LINE," which includes the "Matsunoya Heavy Canvas Tool Tote." They have manufactured bags of various sizes made from sturdy canvas, along with small leather accessories.
