TAjiKA KITCHEN SHEARS (separate)
Made in
Japan
Not only are they sharp, but also they look beautiful and can be repaired and used again and again.
TAjiKA was founded in 2008 by Daisuke Tajika, the fourth generation of the Haruo Tajika Shears Manufacturing Company, which used to make scissors for cutting cloth. Although the number of people using scissors has decreased, he wanted people of all ages to know and use scissors.
Mr. Tajika said, "I had a pair of kitchen scissors at home since I was a child, but I wondered if they were easier to cut with, if the plastic handles would get dirty and rust, and if they would become disposable when they were no longer usable due to rust. I realized that there are many things we need to consider when using our scissors, and I started making them as a knife that is often used alongside kitchen knives in our daily lives."
Many of the more than 100 processes are done by hand, and each pair of scissors has a presence that makes it more than a "cutting tool"; it has a sense of stability when held, and is comfortable to open and close, gliding open and closed with less effort than you might imagine. The beauty of the look and presence of the product is due to the time and effort that has gone into the parts other than the blade.
How to maintain
The stainless steel material, which is harder than the material commonly used for stainless steel blades, ensures long-lasting sharpness. With proper washing, wiping and care, the blade can be used for a long time. The blade can be disassembled by moving it up and down with the blade fully open, and even the bottom of the screw can be washed with water. After thoroughly wiping with water, apply some cooking oil on kitchen paper (a small amount is fine) to lubricate the shears to keep them running smoothly and to prevent rust by creating a film.
The kitchen scissors, made with technology cultivated from the production of cutting scissors that require the most delicate adjustments among scissors, have evolved from the traditional stainless steel kitchen scissors that have excellent sharpness and can be used for various purposes such as opening can lids and uncorking bottles.
